A West Midlands county is Worcestershire (/ˈwʊstərʃər/ WUUS-tər-shər, /-ʃɪər/ -⁠sheer; written abbreviation: Worcs). The rest of the county is rural, but part of the industrial West Midlands includes the north-east of Worcestershire. The northern edge of Cotswolds meets with Gloucestershire at the border that is southern, Worcestershire.

Until 1844 when it was incorporated into Worcestershire, Halesowen was an exclave of Shropshire. Within Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Shropshire had their exclaves in return. These were found at Tardebigge, Oldbury/Halesowen (or the Halesowen area), and Clent and, under the 1844 Act of Counties (Detached Parts) in October 1844, rejoined or were transferred to Worcestershire.

A cause of changes to boundary that were fluid in Worcestershire and associated issues with housing has been Birmingham's continuous expansion. At 425m is the highest point, the Worcestershire Beacon lies in this range. Joins the Severn at Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, the River Avon, on Evesham, through Worcestershire flows.

Widening to over 16 kilometres (9.9 mi), Worcestershire contains an area of green belt broad expanse. Any corner (however fair or squalid) is in an indefinable way 'home' to me, as no other part of the world is, is what Tolkien wrote of Worcestershire.

Although some services are shared with the formed Herefordshire CC, including waste management and the youth offending service, Worcestershire CC was reformed. First stop on for the touring national side's schedule in England, Worcestershire County CC is located in the county.

Herefordshire and Worcestershire are broadcasted by Hereford & Worcester, Free and Sunshine stations. Over thirty-five independent schools, including The King's School, the RGS Worcester, Malvern College, Malvern St James, and Worcester, Worcestershire has a comprehensive school system.
